Columbus cops help family escape burning home
A routine traffic stop turned into a daring act of heroism for Columbus police officers when they saw flames coming from a nearby house on Wheatland Avenue.
The officers sprung to action, saving a family of six from the blaze before Columbus firefighters arrived.
According to NBC4, the residents were not aware of the second-story fire until the police officers knocked on their door.
“[We’re] unbelievably thankful,” the mother of four told NBC reporters. “I mean, if he was not paying attention to his surroundings, I don’t know what could have happened.”
Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
And the routine traffic stop? It turned into a narcotics bust. Good on you, Columbus PD.
