Stu Tudor was paralyzed, unable to talk and left in a coma for weeks after being injured in 2014. A Columbus Firefighter — one expects that in his profession the dangers were imminent. Going into burning buildings, firefighters face risk each day to save and protect those in danger.
Stu Tudor was never injured while fighting fires. He wasn’t even injured on the job. He off duty and struck by lightning outside a Columbus Crew game in the parking lot of Mapfre Stadium. He’d just taken part of a charity soccer game. After being in the hospital for weeks, he was sent to rehab facility for treatment to face the hardest struggles he’d ever face.
According to the Columbus Division of Fire, Stu Tudor has died early this morning. No word on the cause of his death.
The Columbus Division of Fire is working with Tudor’s family.
