Deadly Thursday Night SWAT Situation in West Columbus

An individual was found dead near South Harris Avenue in the Hilltop area before a SWAT incident escalated to a reported four hour standoff.

Late Thursday night, a body was found — some media are reporting outside a home, some laying in snow, and others in a nearby alley.

Investigators arrived at the scene and concluded that whatever happened took place in a nearby home. Upon further investigation, they found three individuals occupied the home in question—when prompted to come out two of the individuals did without incident but the third person refused to leave.

This is when the SWAT team was called. Facing down the SWAT team, the situation was resolved when they were “persuaded” to leave the their home peacefully.

The case is currently under investigation.
