East Side Homicide — Brother Kills Brother in Self-Defense

Police are continuing to investigate a dispute that turned deadly near Leonard Avenue and i-670. Officers responded to a call on Monday around noon to find a 19-year-old with a gunshot wound to his chest.

After being transported to Grant Medical, he died from his injuries around 9pm. According to the ongoing investigation, Mohamud Mohamed, 19, was shot by his own brother, Ali Mohamed, 21.

Ali Mohamed, a concealed-carry permit holder, has said that he was forced to shoot after his life was threatened, ending his brother’s life in self-defense. Allegedly a dispute escalated to where Mohamud brandished a knife with a perceived intent to use it on Ali.
