Ex-Seminarian pleads guilty to attempted toddler pedophilia

The ex-seminarian who was formerly studying at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus pleaded guilty in San Diego to a federal charge of attempted enticement of a minor.

Joel Wright, 23, traveled to Mexico in an attempt to adopt or “buy” young girls aged 1-4 to sexually molest them.

The seminary issued a statement saying they were “shocked and saddened” to learn of the allegations.

Wright’s depraved fantasies were detailed in explicit emails he sent to a Tijuana tour guide, and eventually to an undercover federal agent.

He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison for the charge, and a maximum life sentence.
