Members of the legal team for former Ohio State Marching Band director Jonathan Waters in his lawsuit against the university are petitioning the court…asking that they be permitted to step down as his counsel. They say that Waters is unable to pay.
When hiring attorneys for his suit, Waters didn’t simply grab names out of a phonebook. He went with big guns…a former state attorney general among others.
The former band director was fired by Ohio State in the summer of 2014 in part for his handling of what the university called a “sexualized culture.” Waters denies the allegations and claims that his dismissal was an issue of gender discrimination. He is suing for $1 million.
