Former Columbus residents named in ISIS investigation

Three former Columbus residents have been identified by NBC News to have connections to the Islamic State terror group, having moved from the United States to Syria to fight on their behalf.

Zakia Nasrin, now 24, went to high school in Columbus and achieved a 4.0 grade point average. But she dropped out to convert to Islam and marry Jaffrey Khan, a devout Muslim from California.

The couple eventually moved back to Ohio, at which point Nasrin’s younger brother Rasel Raihan converted to Islam after a battle with depression.

When Raihan turned 18, he moved in with his older sister and her new husband, and all three flew to Syria to join ISIS.

Raihan, who took the battle name Abu Abduallah al-Amriki, was killed fighting in Syria.

Nasrin and Khan still live in Syria, where they have a daughter and are working at a hospital, according to family sources.
