The public viewing is scheduled for eight hours starting at noon on Friday. The waits are expected to be long and traffic could be delayed in the area. The Marine Honor Guard has asked everyone to remain patient and respectful.
Glenn was born and grew up in a small town in Ohio. He was the first American to orbit the earth among other similarly incredible feats such as serving in the U.S. Senate for over 20 years, and service in World War II and Korea.
He was the oldest man in space at 77.
