Ohioans oppose transgender bathrooms, poll finds
A new poll conducted by Quinnipiac University found a majority of Ohioans do not support a transgender person’s option to use the bathroom of their gender identity, rather than the one of their biological sex.
In Ohio, 48 percent of people oppose the option, while 43 percent support it.
The poll focused on presidential swing states Pennsylvania and Florida as well, where voters support a transgender person’s option to use the bathroom of their choice.
In all three states, voters opposed the federal government order forcing public schools to let transgender students use the bathroom of their gender identity.
The poll also asked voters about the Zika virus, and whether the U.S. Olympic team should travel to Brazil in spite of the virus’ presence there. Though a majority of Ohio voters said they were “somewhat concerned” or “very concerned” about the virus, 55 percent said the U.S. Olympic team should travel to Brazil anyway.
