Explosions level Reynoldsburg apartment complex

Authorities are currently investigating a series of explosions that leveled an apartment complex in Reynoldsburg.

Around 9 p.m. on Thursday firefighters were called to the scene to contain the blaze.

The explosions were powerful enough to blow the roof of the building off, sending debris onto nearby cars and shattering windows of adjacent buildings. They are said to have originated in the complex’s maintenance building, and were heard as far away as Pickerington.

Witnesses described three explosions, the third of which one witness described as being “like an earthquake.”

Displaced residents are being assisted by the Central Ohio chapter of the American Red Cross, and have been given shelter at the nearby Herbert Mills Elementary School.
