Third Child In 2 Weeks Killed by Vehicle
Just 12 hours after a 7-year old girl was killed by an SUV, sixth grader Favour Agu was killed on his way to middle school after a van and a sedan crashed.
Reckless driving is not suspected, as CPD try and figure out how Favour was killed.
Favour is the third child in 2 weeks to die from a crash or fatal injury via vehicle.
On Sept. 11 a 6-year old boy, Cheick Camara, was hit in the parking lot of Woodbridge Condominiums while riding his bike. He died at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
According to an Ohio Department of Public Safety report, 22 pedestrians 15 or younger were killed in the state last year. That report also said that five bicyclists 6 to 15 years old were killed in crashes in 2015, making these incidents relatively rare — despite the rarity the community is still shaken.
“This is hard on this community,”Sgt. Duane Mabry said at the scene of Thursday’s crash to The Dispatch. “If the rest of the community can surround these folks and pray for this community … that would be huge. This is a lot to deal with to have two children (fatally struck) in 12 hours, and this is the third one in the last two weeks.”
