Legendary Rock Band, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, to Play Columbus

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, one of the most iconic bands in American music history and the only band they seem to play on VH1 classic, have announced the first dates of their 40th Anniversary Tour, which includes a June 7, 2017 play at the Schottenstein Center. If you’re too young to care that’s totally understandable-ish, it is #dadmusic. But! That doesn’t mean it’s bad, or boring — in fact Tom Petty is pretty much regarded as one of the best songwriters of the last 40 years, often being compared to a weird mishmash of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan (Brob Dylsteen as I like to call them.) Tom Petty’s music is also the first place you heard about marijuana, because Last Dance with Mary Jane was really popular during the early 90’s and it was about as unsubtle as one can get.

Joe Walsh (an even earlier example of #dadmusic) of The Eagles will appear as very special guest. Tom Petty announced the tour on SiriusXM’s “Tom Petty Radio” this morning and on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 16 at 10AM.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are releasing two companion vinyl box sets featuring their entire studio repertoire available today via UMe and Reprise/Warner Bros.  All LPs have been pressed on 180-gram vinyl with replica artwork.

Further details on Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ 40th Anniversary Tour and career-spanning vinyl box sets are available at www.tompetty.com.

Tickets GO ON SALE next Friday, December 16 at 10AM at the Box Office, ticketmaster.com or 1-800-745-3000.
