Westerville Math Tutor Charged With Sex Crimes

Dan Burris, a former Westerville City Schools teacher and math tutor, was charged Monday with gross sexual imposition and corruption of a minor, according to Fox28.

Police said that two teens reported being molested and inappropriately touched in their Upper Arlington homes during a tutoring session.

At the time of the molestation, Burris was working as a school teacher and had later resigned because he was caught sending text messages to students without parental permission.

This wasn’t the first time Burris stirred some red flags — according to Fox, the school district and Franklin County Children’s Services had also been contacted by the Boy Scouts of America for inappropriate texts to scouts.

Detectives in the case Monday said that there are likely to be other, unspoken victims.
