A woman in New Haven, CT accused a graduate of the Ohio State Medical School of removing the wrong body part in surgery. She is suing the Yale New Haven Hospital as a result.
The woman was scheduled to have a rib removed with a pre-cancerous lesion, and she claims the wrong rib was removed.
After her first surgery, she says she had to have surgery a second time to correct the mistake, and that Ricardo Quarrie, the OSU Med School graduate, lied about the mistake to cover it up.
The woman’s attorney says that Quarrie was even involved in the second surgery, despite requests that he not be.
In a statement Yale Hospital said, “even in the best organizations, medical errors may occur.”
