Kasich, Clinton win Ohio Primary Election

Last night was the biggest victory Ohio Governor John Kasich has had throughout the primary process–and it showed last night at a northeast Ohio rally.

A giddy Kasich took the stage backed by AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” after beating Donald Trump by a handy 11 percentage point to chants of “Ka-sich, Ka-sich, Ka-sich,” as he gave his victory speech.

He told his story of being counted out by the national media, and vowed to win the Republican nomination in July.

Though Kasich’s Ohio win will net him some more exposure nationwide, the only path to victory for him lies in a “brokered convention,” in which no candidate receives the required number of delegates to receive a definitive nomination.

However, now that Florida Senator Marco Rubio has dropped out of the race following an embarrassing loss in his home state, Kasich is only fighting Donald Trump and Texas Senator Ted Cruz for the nomination.

Elsewhere, Donald Trump swept the rest of the states that voted yesterday, securing him a 200-delegate lead over Cruz.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton won every state that had elections yesterday, though a few were closely contested between her and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, including Illinois and Missouri.

In Ohio she beat Sanders by 15 percentage points.

As of now it looks like Clinton and Trump are still on the way to receiving the nominations, but anything could happen in this presidential race that’s already been full of surprises.
