Community, Colleagues Rally Behind OSU Employee After Post Goes Viral

614now Staff

Days after an attack left 11 injured and the assailant dead on Ohio State’s campus, a community is left picking up the pieces and figuring out how to cope with the violence that has visited them.

Yesterday, 614now wrote about Stephanie Clemons Thompson, The Ohio State University Assistant Director of Residence Life, and the comments she posted on her now deleted facebook after the attack. In the wake of her comments there have been calls for her resignation, termination and in some particular instances death threats.

Reaching out for comment, OSU is distancing itself from the post and Thompson.

“This post from this individual clearly is not an official statement of the university and represents her own personal viewpoint.” Benjamin Johnson, Director of Media and Public Relations said.

A groundswell of support has risen amid the backlash both in our comments of the post and across the community that knows her, including her colleagues OSU.

Still, others are upset and find her comments to be unfit for her position.
