Calls for resignation, termination and in some cases death threats have erupted over what some consider a controversial Facebook post made by The Ohio State University Assistant Director of Residence Life.

Stephanie Clemons Thompson, whose post no longer exists on Facebook and whose identity is trending with over 34,000 active users, made a post on Monday after the attack on OSU urging empathy for OSU assailant, Abdul Razak Ali Artan, and asking those around her to not share a photo that circulated in the aftermath of his death.

While many are alleging her “support” for the OSU attacker and lack of support for student and faculty victims, 614now is trying to parse through the comments of this OSU faculty member after the attack. We do not understand why the particular hashtags were used and are seeking further clarification.

Artan attacked OSU campus on Monday, injuring 11 with a car and a butcher knife before being shot moments later by OSU Police Officer Alan Horujko. Prior to his attack he posted a lengthy and impassioned rant on Facebook that included threats to “kill a billion infidels.”

Some users on Facebook have posted their demands for her termination

We’ve reached out to Thompson and but have heard no response. We will update this article when/if we do.

What do you think? Leave your comments/questions below and if we have an opportunity to speak with her we will try and answer your questions.

[Editor’s note] We’ve replaced the word “terrorist” with “attacker” despite evidence to the contrary the FBI has not officially declared Artan’s act one of terrorism and for that reason we do not wish to mislead anyone who may believe that the FBI has done so. There is more information in the comments that further elaborate.
