Data from 2015 show that the population of Columbus’ metro area grew to 2 million people–a major milestone for the capital city.
Though Columbus is still Ohio’s third-largest metro population behind Cincinnati number one and Cleveland at number two, Cleveland experienced a net decrease in population in 2015, meaning that Columbus might be climbing the list in the coming years.
The official number is 2,021,632 people in 2015. That’s up 1.2 percent from 1,997,308 in 2014.
Though some analysts are calling the statistic “just a round number,” we at 614NOW are perfectly OK with celebrating the aesthetic appeal of our population count.
