The heat wave continues: Heat advisory issued

614now Staff

Last weekend the combination of heat and humidity made it feel like 100 degrees outside, and today is no different.

Expect to feel the same muggy weather by late afternoon, where a high of 91 degrees and a brutal 60-70 percent humidity will be wilting plants–and people.

Remember to have water on-hand, and to drink lots, even if you normally don’t. Dehydration is a very real concern on days like today.

As for the rest of the week, things will stay much the same until Friday, when rain is accompanied by a temperature drop to the mid-80s.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Central Ohio until 8 p.m. tonight.

Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water to prevent heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.

7/22/16: Heat wave: This weekend will feel like 100 degrees

This weekend Columbus will feel like a veritable swamp.

We’re talking fry-an-egg-on-the-dashboard heat, coupled with cut-the-air-with-a-knife humidity.

Expect to see thermostats sitting around 92 degrees all weekend, with enough humidity to make it feel like it’s in the 100s.

Plus, the year’s eighth smog alert was issued today, so sensitive breathers should beware as well.

The City of Columbus has recommended reducing outdoor activities, drinking lots of water, and sitting in front of your air conditioner when all else fails.
