Average gas price in Ohio rises almost 10 cents in one week

According to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information service, the average price of gas in Ohio rose to $2.09 this week, up from $2.02 last week.

As gas stations make the switch to summer blend gasoline, consumers should see costs continuing to rise in the coming weeks.

Summer blend gasoline is chemically different than the kind that’s used in the winter, and producing it is more expensive than winter blend gas.

Plus, seasonal demand has an effect on the price, as more drivers take road trips as the weather improves.

Fortunately, prices aren’t as high as they were in April of last year, when Ohioans were paying $2.43 a gallon.

4/11/16: Pain at the pump: gas prices top $2 a gallon in Ohio

After a few months of startlingly low gas prices (as low as $1.39 a gallon two months ago), it looks like the price of petrol has once again risen back to the new status quo.

A report issued this morning said the average Ohio gas price is now $2.02, which comes as a result of rebounding oil prices and increasing demand as winter comes to an end.

Though it seems rough in comparison to January and February’s crazy low prices, $2.02 is a few cents less than the $2.39 Ohioans were paying a year ago.

The new numbers align closely with nationwide figures, with the US average gas price sitting at $2.04.
