Consumer goods giant Unilever acquires Dollar Shave Club
Shortly after the Dollar Shave Club announced a $4.5 million distribution facility in Grove City, the world’s third-largest producer of consumer goods acquired the company for an undisclosed sum.
The Dollar Shave Club was one of the first businesses to capitalize on cheap razor blades delivered to your door, so it’s easy to see why Unilever would shell out big bucks for a cut of the name recognition–and the profits.
Unilever already owns many personal care brands including Axe, Dove and Pond’s.
Earlier this year the Dollar Shave Club announced it would begin hiring for 185 positions at its new “fulfillment center” in Grove City this summer.

5/23/16: Dollar Shave Club announces $4.5M Grove City facility
You’ve probably seen ads for the Dollar Shave Club, which will mail you razors for a reasonable monthly price, but by the end of this year, the blades won’t be traveling very far to reach Columbus club members.
The California-based company is building its first “fulfillment center” outside of its home state right here in central Ohio.
Grove City is set to receive the massive 180,000 square foot, $4.5 million facility, which will manufacture and ship blades, serving two-thirds of the company’s customer base and creating 185 central Ohio jobs.
Hiring for the facility is set to begin in summer 2016.
