Gene Wilder Tribute Shows — This Weekend
As many already know, Gene Wilder passed away this week due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease — he was 83.
To celebrate his life and achievements in comedy and film making, there will be a handful of events over this Labor Day weekend.
AMC Theaters has showings of “Willy Wonka” & “Blazing Saddles” at 7:30pm on Saturday and Sunday in over 50 locations across the United States. Tickets are a welcome $5.
If you haven’t seen either of these movies well, first — we’re shocked, and second — you should. They’re absolute classics of comedy, especially Blazing Saddles which paved the way for Gene’s legendary work with Richard Pryor, who many believe he did his best work alongside.
Here’s a clip of Gene in action during a classic bit in Blazing Saddles:
We’ve got our own AMC on Kinnear Rd, that’ll be participating. You can grab tickets here.
We haven’t found any local theaters doing any special events for Gene Wilder this weekend.
