Ohio Weather Sucks — But Autumn Colors Come Sooner
According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, our summer has been so hot and so dry that our trees are just friggin’ done with it. Their distress signal? Early fall colors.
Their pain is our pleasure, considering that Ohio is known for their beautiful fall season. As a non-native Ohioan, I can truly say there’s nothing quite like driving through the rolling hills of multi-colored forests in the fall. Not to mention, early fall colors means that you can break out that cider and pumpkin spice like no one’s business. Nothing is stopping you, mother nature is shoving fall into your eyeballs, so you might as well enjoy it.
Not to mention, with Columbus’s new park on the horizon, we might just be able to walk through fall color oasis.
OhioDNR says that this fall color season is two-fold, meaning that first we’ll have cool colors due to tree stress, and then the second wave of colors will come when our days get shorter and we finally pull those wool socks out of the bottom drawer. You know those itchy ones that you hate but they’re the only ones that keep your feet roasty-toasty.
