Sick of wasting that last drop of detergent? OSU has a solution

Ever notice how you can never get that last drop of detergent or shampoo out of the container? Such troubles might soon be a thing of the past.

Ohio State nanotechnology researcher Bharat Bhushan wants you to get the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to liquid soap.

He and a postdoctoral researcher, Phillip Brown, say they’ve found a way to build nano-structures into the walls of plastic containers to let the liquids inside slide effortlessly into your hands or your washer.

“I’m always looking to see how to connect with people,” Bhushan said, on the practical applications of his research. “I think the interest in science for the sake of science is gone. We can’t afford it.”

Bhushan is currently waiting to receive a patent for the new technology.
