Opera Columbus needs you for new, “daring” concept
Imagine, a stage covered from wall to wall in screens, each filled with a person from anywhere in the globe singing perfectly in sync with person on the screen next to them.
No, this is not a vision from the Jetsons, Opera Columbus is making this a reality for introvert vocal musicians around the world.
It’s called Global Virtual Choir and consists of hundreds of voice recordings stitched together, projected onto the Opera Columbus set, and synced with a live orchestra.
The company announced on their website, that they are looking for voices of all ranges and types from all over the world to lend for the project. To audition, participants must send a video recording by January 15th. ABC6 reports that Opera Columbus artistic director, Peggy Kriha Dye, hopes this project transforms the future of how opera is presented.
The April show will be Orphée et Eurydice, a famous French production dating back over 250 years. Just be prepared to sing in French!
