East side barns going from empty space to marketplace

For $21.5 million, the abandoned trolley barns on the Near East Side could get a second chance at a purpose.
If the plan comes to fruition, the six-barn complex would be transformed into a marketplace of restaurants, retail, patios and plazas. And across the street, Columbus Business First reports planners aspire to construct a four-story residential complex with a little bitty park to serve both developments.
Most of the retailers and financing are squared away but the hitch right now is Ohio historical tax credits. Planners would need these to forge ahead.
Assuming they’ll get the green light, it will be called “East Market at Franklin Park.”
