Stauf’s coffee pouring over into Franklinton
Sometimes Franklinton is in the news for homeless camps, other times badass grocery stores, but now for awesome new coffee business. In just a few weeks, Stauf’s Coffee Roasters will be opening up a shop on the first floor of the Columbus Idea Foundry. Their inside space will seat 30 and they’ll have a patio for those willing to brave whatever elements Ohio decides to treat us with. It’ll look a lot like the newly renovated German Village roast house.
With Stauf’s roasters being a staple in every neighborhood their in–German Village, Grandview, and the North Market–they’re going after a different, arguably more risky venture.
Stauf’s in Franklinton will be jazzed up with super science-y equipment used for brewing your pourover or latte, like a Slayer espresso machine and Marco SP9 pourover machines. These gadgets allow baristas to dial in customer specifications like water presser and extraction speed. So if you’re the biggest coffee snob in the Midwest, Stauf’s in Franklinton can come through for you. The Grandview store is also equipped with Slayer.
Bottoms Up Coffee Co-Op on Broad St. will be Stauf’s main contender. Ah, the great smell of coffee competition in the morning.
The company also owns Cup O Joe which we’ve seen disappear from the Short North, Easton, and recently Lennox Town Center to name a few. Though the brand is shrinking, it’s not going away.
