Dollar theaters around here reach end of reel

Remember 15 years ago when a new movie would come out but you’d wait for it to hit the “dollar theater” to save some bucks? Well that era is gone in central Ohio.

With the renovations being made to the Carriage Place theaters—the last standing second-run theater with $2.50 tickets—general admission prices have risen to $7.99. The Dispatch reports that it was a move to better position the theater to compete in the ever-changing market.

It’s all about tradeoffs though because while you may be reaching deeper in your wallet, you’ll have your pick of all the hottest movies and an ultra-comfy environment in which to take them in. So far, the theater is already pimped out with recliner seats and is slated to receive an expanded menu at their concession stand.
