Freedom a la Cart library cafe liberating hunger and human trafficking victims

The new Northside Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library is beautiful. There’s this awesome kids area, loads of natural lighting, and even a parking lot. There’s enough to explore with just the library alone but Freedom al la Cart Cafe is just another reason to visit the new book world on High St.

Freedom al la Cart plates up handmade pastries on the first level of the library. Their cute little cafe has cold brew, specialty lemonade, cookies (try the sea salt choco chip), muffins, breads, and others pastries that are acceptable to eat for breakfast but taste more like dessert.

They do much more than that, though. Freedom al la Cart employs and empowers survivors of human trafficking. They teach their employees workforce skills and help raise up the women who have suffered from abuse.

When they’re not tapping on our sweet tooth at the cafe, Freedom al la Cart operates a non-profit catering company out of the Van Buren Community Center and homeless shelter. They whip out these great lunch boxes with fresh sandwiches, chips, a little dessert, and other items.

But with them being just around the corner at the new library, pop in and say hi. You’ll be met with huge smiles, a great cup of joe, fresh, and quality baked goods. You’ll leave with a satisfied stomach and knowing you supported a great, local cause.
