Meet the Meats — New BBQ Coming to Franklinton

Franklinton is getting a new BBQ pop-up,  inspired by the recent successes of similar pop-up style restaurants like Hot Chicken Takeover.

Red Door BBQ is looking to open in April in Franklinton but they’ve already started catering, according to Bizjournals. The venture will be run by chef-manager Aaron Channels, a Franklinton resident who ran a catering business.

“I always wanted to do barbecue,” said Channels to Bizjournals. “We’re doing a mix of Southern and Northern barbecue.”

“We are still working on things but being the best value is our #1 priority. All food is made from scratch in our kitchen including fresh brewed tea and lemonade.” They wrote on their facebook.

Their platters sound pretty legit as well, with reasonable prices ($10 – $12) for pork, brisket and ribs. The menu will allegedly start pretty small, with room to expand for sandwiches. The area has no indoor seating and only a few picnic tables for the prettier days — otherwise it’s a grab-n-go situation which is pretty much the best way to get into some BBQ.

They are currently trying to raise awareness by offering to cater Mayor Andrew Ginther’s lunch.

Red Door BBQ will be located at 177 S Cypress Ave, Columbus, OH 43223.
