Arena District Buildings May Be Demolished for North Market Redevelopment

So North Market is getting redeveloped in the next couple of years, and it’s going to need to make up for 160 parking spaces in the meantime.

A possible solution? A proposal to tear down nearby buildings in the Arena District to compensate as temporary parking while North Market proper is under construction, according to Columbus Business First.

We’re going to get rid of parking, but to fix that we’re going to tear down buildings to build parking and for the parking that originally existed we’re going to build more buildings.

The former EndZone nightclub plus a couple other buildings are part of this demolition proposal to the city because they offer little aesthetic value and no historical significance.

The proposal comes from the owner of the property, the Lewin family that runs Hamilton Parker Co., who is fielding interest for temporary parking from developers gunning to redevelop the North Market.

The Lewin family hopes to have the buildings torn down by the end of this year.
