In an attempt to modernize Ohio gun laws, the “stand-your-ground” legislation is back under scrutiny of the Ohio General Assembly. This legislation deals with self defense shootings and which side has to prove what during trial.
It’s still a long ways out from becoming a law but if it is eventually passed, it would mean prosecutors would have to prove that the person shooting was not acting in self defense. As the law stands today, the perpetrator of the shooting has to prove it was in self defense.
Opposition states that it places yet another burden upon the victim of the shooting.
