Ohio legislators are looking to remove the “pink tax” — which is a tax on hygienic products like tampons and pads, according to WLWT5
Rep. Greta Johnson and Rep. Brigid Kelly announced on Tuesday that the legislation would eliminate nearly $4 million in sales taxes. According to Rep. Johnson, the recent tax increases put an undue burden on women facing economic hurdles and on average costing a woman around $632.50 in state taxes according to Johnson.
Twelve states have already banned the “Pink Tax” including neighbors Pennsylvania and Illinois.
