Ohio Ranked 4th In National Human Trafficking Hotline
Calls to the National Human Trafficking Hotline from Ohio have risen sharply, placing Ohio as fourth highest in the nation for call volume.
The report from Republican Gov. John Kasich’s human trafficking task force states that the calls only include those reported to the hotline, not all human trafficking cases, according to 10tv.
While Ohio is reaching more victims and punishing more traffickers, it could mean, that there are ‘hidden populations’ that will need more help, said Elizabeth Ranade Janis, anti-trafficking coordinator for the Ohio Department of Public Safety to 10tv.
Groups contributing to the Ohio trafficking report said there were 445 cases of people identified as human trafficking victims in the first half of 2016.
Some were repeat victims, but the report assures at least 130 were new victims.
