Ohio senators actually take same stance on Syria air strikes
Senator Brown (D) and Senator Portman (R) actually have a lot of the same opinions about the attack on Syria. Brown thinks the air strikes were a proportional measure taken by the United States against the cruel use of chemical weapons by Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. Senator Portman tips his hat to the military for their precision in the attacks (59 Tomahawk missiles were fired and U.S. officials say all but one reached the target though there is some dispute).
But like all of the United States, both senators voiced concerns and brought up questions that need answered:
What is our plan for future engagement in Syria?
How will the strikes affect Americans fighting ISIS on the ground?
Will violence in Syria and the Middle East continue?
“President Trump needs to come up with a strategy to resolve the Syrian conflict, share his plans with the American people and win their support before taking further action,” said Brown.
Portman added, “As I have said before, only a coordinated and comprehensive effort by the United States and our allies will help bring an end to the refugee crisis, as well as the violence and devastation that has plagued Syria and the Middle East.”
