Ohio follows through with death penalty for first time in 3+ years

After a 3 1/2 year hiatus, Ohio went through with an execution this afternoon.

Ronald Phillips’ death was postponed six times but the seventh time was the last.

He died at 10:43 a.m. at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.

Phillips was found guilty of raping and killing his then-girlfriend’s three-year-old daughter in 1993.

Unlike the last execution in 2014, there were no complications with Phillips’ lethal injection.
