Woman’s body found near Grove City identified, dumped after overdosing

Update: Woman died of overdose, dumped by friend

The cause of death of the woman found dead near Grove City on Wednesday has been revealed. Jacqueline Powers, 45, of Pickerington died from an overdose at a home in west Columbus. Erica Renee Escuadra, 37, moved Powers’ body from the home to Big Run Rd.

Escuadra was in the home with Powers’ dead body for two hours without bothering to call authorities. She loaded up Powers’ body, drove to a gas station, then dumped her body on the side of Big Run Rd.

Escuadra has been charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

 


Update: Woman has been identified

The female body found near Grove City yesterday has been identified as Jacqueline Powers, 45, of Pickerington.

A witness says he heard yells and screams Tuesday night around 10:30 p.m. but didn’t find anything when he went to investigate.


Breaking: A woman’s body was found in tact, covered in a blanket near Grove City last night. It was discovered on the side of Big Run Rd. E near the intersection of Gantz Rd. on Wednesday around 1:42 p.m.

Neither her name nor her age has been released. Police have not ruled out any causes of death, including foul play.
