1.5 million clean needles on Columbus’ wall

Since January 2016, 1.5 million needles have been handed out to Columbus’ roughly 3,000 drug users.

Equitas Health Center took it upon themselves to administer clean needles to drug users all across the city so that they could be better protected against HIV and Hepatitis C. The program is called Safe Point and there are two locations:

Equitas Health Short North Medical Center

1033 North High Street
Columbus, Ohio 43201

Every Saturday: 8:30 AM – 12 PM
Every Tuesday: 5:30 PM – 7 PM

Southeast, Inc. Franklin Station

524B West Broad Street
Columbus, Ohio 43215

Every Friday: 8:30 AM – 12 PM

Seattle Times reports that people can access up to 150 syringes every two weeks from Safe Point after a staff member has done a client assessment.

1.5 million needles in less than two years, what do you think of this?
