Update: 10 Ohio gov websites back online after hack by pro-Islamic State group
Update: The 10 websites hacked are now back online.
On Sunday afternoon, 10 government web pages were hacked by a pro-Islamic State group.
All the pages were replaced with a dark statement: “You will be held accountable Trump, you and all your people for every drop of blood flowing in Muslim countries.”
“I Love Islamic State,” it said.
The websites affected were:
- Gov. John Kasich’s page
- First Lady Karen Kasich’s page
- Inspector General
- Department of Medicaid
- Casino Control Commission
- LeanOhio
- Office of Workforce Transformation
- Office of Health Transformation
- Department of Rehabilitation and Correction
It happened at about noon on Sunday. Law enforcement is involved to help get a better understanding of what happened.
The group that claimed responsibility for the hack is called Team System Dz. The same message appeared on the website of Brookhaven, a town on New York’s Long Island.
Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2018, posted a screenshot of one of the hacked pages to his Facebook page just after one of the cyberattacks.
