All the little piggies went to market at the Franklin Co Fair

This little piggy went to market.. Actually, an emergency called for all 48 piggies at the Franklin County Fair to be taken to the market. Two hogs tested positive for influenza and out of extreme caution, all were removed from the fairgrounds, “for harvest,” according to Fox28. It’s assumed that the two sick pigs won’t be processed immediately.

The pair of sick pigs were quickly identified by a vet and the pens were all sanitized. Attendees need not worry about their health as protocol per Ohio Department of Agriculture has been followed.

The 4H exhibitors who brought the hogs to the fair will still participate in the livestock auction on Saturday, July 22.

Visitors should follow the following precautionary measures:

  • Wash hands often
  • Don’t brining food or drinks into livestock barns
  • Don’t take strollers, sippy cups, or pacifiers into livestock barns
