Bizarre Weekend Assault has Police Confused

Columbus police are looking for suspect in a brutal weekend assault that has left one Columbus man in serious condition.

Bob Seed, 63, was allegedly assaulted on the side of the road, just after 5pm on Saturday. Investigators say he’d pulled off the road along with a mysterious other driver — according to a witness the two spoke before the other struck Seed in the head, knocking him unconscious as he fell and hit his head on the pavement.

Seed is an employee for the City of Columbus, according to his daughter — he has worked the last 18 years with “Keep Columbus Beautiful” — a program that encourages residents to pick up trash and litter.

“He’s a reverend so he has that compassion for others, and wanting to do for others, he would give the shirt off his back for someone” Seed’s daughter said to ABC6.

Most confusingly, there was no theft by the perpetrator, described as a white man in his 20’s, around six feet tall, brown hair and driving a white sedan.

Seed is at OSU Wexner Medical Center in critical condition.

Anyone with info regarding this case is asked to contact CPD Assault Detective Kowalski at 614-645-4189 or dkowalski@columbuspolice.org or or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
