Large monkey loose near Dublin, considered “non-issue” (?)

Who let the primate out.. who, WHO, WHO, WHO, WHO. Dublin residents received an alert from Muirfield Assoc., Inc. that a large monkey was on the loose. No, none of that was a typo. It was spotted near Memorial Dr. just west of Muirfield Dr. The kicker is that the zoo and vet clinic say it doesn’t belong to them.

Here’s what the association posted on their website.

“This is not a joke and no one has hacked into our account. A large monkey, a bonobo reportedly, on the loose in Muirfield. Last spotted near Memorial Drive just west of Muirfield Drive. We have spoken to the police and they have increased patrols nearby to search for it. The Zoo and the Vet Clinic in Muirfield Square both say it is not theirs. One resident suggested keeping small children and pets inside. They can be aggressive. Be on the lookout and call the police non-emergency number if you spot it: 614-889-1112.”

They updated their statement, saying the monkey has not been found but they are considering it a “non-issue.” So monkeys running around our streets is the new normal..?

“We have spoken with the Dublin Police Department. They have checked into this situation and have not located this animal and have no further reports of any spottings. At this point, they are considering it a non-issue and say there is no threat to other animals or children. If you do spot it, please contact the police with details at their non-emergency number at 614-889-1112.”

According to NBC4, a monkey head count has been conducted, and “all known monkeys in the area are accounted for.”

Here’s one report of this bizarre case.

Here’s another.
