BRAVO + CPD making safety their mission at Pride
As unfortunate as it is, acts of violence, malice, and hate saturate our news. In wake of things like the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando and hate speech like that posted on the Columbus Pride Facebook page, safety at Pride this weekend is more important than ever.
The Buckeye Regional Anti-Violence Organization is doing their part to help foster a safe setting at this year’s festivities. They’ll be passing out cards reminding people of small but important steps they can take to keep themselves out of harm’s way.
The CPD will be out in fuller force than usual, too. They’ll be surveying for suspicious activity, sweeping trashcans, and there will be undercover cops as well as more bike units. To avoid anyone from driving into a crowd of people, there will be portable barriers and blocked intersections.
