Columbus Plane Grounded due to Security Issue
Update: Passengers and flight staff are safe. No information has been divulged as to what prompted the threat.
American Airlines released the following statement: “Out of an abundance of caution, STL authorities are conducting a security check of the aircraft. We hope to have our passengers on their way soon.”
American airlines plans to board and resume its flight to Phoenix shortly.

An American Airlines flight that left John Glenn Columbus International has been diverted and grounded at St. Louis.
There is currently no information as to why Flight 534 was grounded.
According to NBC4i, Rebecca Wu with the FBI in Saint Louis has responded to the scene, which apparently is “common for bomb threats.” An NBC4 reported asked if it was a bomb threat but no confirmation could be made – only that it was “some kind of threat.”
KMOV-TV in St. Louis is reporting the plane requested an emergency landing in St. Louis and passengers have been taken off the plane, while a k-9 unit has been brought in to inspect all luggage prior to its removal into the terminal.
