COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) has identified and is currently considering three corridors best suited for a potential light rail transit system.
The three corridors are:
- East Main Street
- North High Street
- Franklinton to Columbus State
These routes stand out because of the ridership, development, cost and a few other factors that apparently make them the best chance to land the federal funding needed to go forward with the project.
COTA is hoping to finalize plans for the NextGen transit project by this summer. Mass transit has been a hot topic for Columbus — with residents interested in everything from a subway or commuter rail system to streetcars and bus rapid transit.
