Dublin teen dies after jumping in Lake Erie to save dog and dad
Over the weekend, a Dublin teenager died from an electrical shock in Put-In-Bay.
Evan Currie, 19, and his family docked their boat at Miller Marina Friday evening after being out on Lake Erie. Their boat was connected to shore power.
The family dog fell into the water and Evan’s dad jumped in to save it. The father began to struggle so Evan and his brother jumped in to help, the mother stay onboard
Bystanders were yelling at the mother to unplug the shore power. Once she did, the electrical current in the water stopped and everyone got back onto the boat, including Evan who was unresponsive.
His family members took him to the mainland in Port Clinton where he was pronounced dead.
Evan was a recent graduate of Hilliard Davidson High School.
