Your electricity bill may increase, AEP proposes 120% increase to fixed charges
AEP Ohio is proposing a 120 percent increase to customer’s current fixed fees. The so-called “customer charge” or “fixed charge” is the part of the electric bill paid by consumers regardless of the amount of electricity they use. The 120 percent increase will result in an additional charge of about $10 per month.
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio or PUCO, held an open meeting in Columbus Monday. Residents were free to voice their opinion, and some voiced their opposition to the proposed fee hike. AEP has released as statement saying in part, “…Overall, the change in the fixed customer charge will be offset by decreases in other monthly charges…”
Concerned customers can contact PUCO at (800) 686-7826 or on their website at www.puco.ohio.gov
