“Fly, You Fools!” Giant Eagle Closing Three Stores
Giant Eagle is closing three stores in the Columbus-area on March 4th. The ones closing are: East Dublin-Granville Rd., the one on Neil Avenue (!!) and the one on Hilliard-Rome Road (also a gas station). this has been a heated discussion as people are righteously passionate about where they buy their grapes.
“We thank our customers for their years of patronage at these locations, and invite them to visit us at our other area stores,” said Giant Eagle spokesperson Dan Donovan. “Central Ohio, and Columbus specifically, are important communities for Giant Eagle, and we remain committed to supporting customers throughout the region for years to come.”
I have always been a Kroger-man (the store layout makes a good amount more sense to me) so I do not see the appeal of Giant Eagle. For many in the area though, it’s a bummer.
As far as the employees at the closing locations, they’ll be shipped over to other Giant Eagles to fill various positions, which adds up to about 200 workers.
Let’s hope these buildings aren’t left vacant for years like the one in Grandview.
