Gender pay “gap” at OSU is more like a valley

A “gap” is a small space between someone’s front teeth. The gender pay disparity at Ohio State is more comparable to a rolling valley.

$7,811. That’s how much more male employees made than women in 2016.

The Lantern ran the numbers and while it’s less than the $9,390 difference in 2006, it still reaffirms the gender inequality that exists at the university as well as across the United States.

In the past 10 years, OSU has managed to close the gap $1,579. So ladies, if they stay on track (which, according to the graph above, looks to be the case), all you have to do is wait about 50 more years to receive the same pay grade as  men!

Ya-hoo…

“When it comes to gender, we recognize that there is a gap. We also know that, unfortunately, this is a phenomenon that exists in broader society. We’re a part of that and we’re committed to addressing it.” — Chris Davey, Ohio State spokesman per The Lantern
