Giant Eagle on Neil Closing Saturday

Announced today — The Giant Eagle on Neil is closing their doors on Saturday. This marks one of three closures that’ll affect over 200 employees in Central Ohio.

Unlike the Grandview Giant Eagle which has sat unoccupied for several years — it looks as though Casto, the owner of the shopping center that houses the Neil Giant Eagle has said that re-leasing and redeveloping the site were on the table.

The shopping center was notable for its close proximity to Victorian village housing, making it walkable but convenient for those in-and-around the area.

As of now there isn’t any certainty as to whether or not grocers have show any interest in the land, but given its central location for those in the Short North, Victorian and Italian Village, as well as Harrison West — it could be a giant opportunity.
